We can't believe it's only been
two and half weeks - so much has been going on in our classroom! We just
looked at our pictures
from the first week and it felt like they had been taken a month or two
ago. There has been so much action and growth here already.
We began the year looking at our

What questions should you ask a potential school?
Choosing the right program for your child is a complex decision. There are many options to consider and school quality depends on many characteristics, many that are not easily measurable. You must look carefully at all of your options and make the decision that is best for your family.

On Earth Day, April 22, the lower elementary class embarked on a nearly two-month-long series of lessons, activities, and projects that could be entitled ‘We’re All in This Together: How Everything and Everyone is Interconnected’—an interdisciplinary mixture of elementary-level ecology, economics, mathematics, psychology, anthropology, and philosophy. To kick off the school year and help the children to get to know each other, we split them into four teams and gave each team a few missions. The first was to come up with a team name based on an animal—resulting in Team Snow Leopard, Team Snake, Team Starfish, and Team Cow. The next was to create a family shield that featured the team’s animal and a personal icon for each team-member. What a perfect day for a picnic!
Thanks to everyone who helped make our community picnic a wonderful success. It was so fun to spend time with friends, share delicious food, play in the park, and dance to great music.
Thank you to all the volunteers, especially Dianne Hillmand and Dave Shurman, who help care for the Jacksonville Community Park--a true treasure indeed!
